About
Mandy Boursicot
From an early age, Mandy travelled the world with her family, visiting museums, art galleries and churches. This had a profound influence on her, cultivating a deep respect for the power of figurative work.
Today, she continues to travel and to marvel at paintings, sculptures and architecture that tell the story of human experience across time, and across so many varied cultures.
Statement
As a pace-setter in the world of Classical Realism, Mandy has devoted herself to spreading the principles and teaching the application of the Academic method. In this world, Beauty is still esteemed and held as the standard for the depiction of any and every subject matter. In her own work, Mandy explores the human form, still life and skyscapes. Her ever-varied subjects, which range from Academic nudes to neo-Classical portraits to contemporary visions of Greek goddesses, to women of power, are always distilled through the prism of that Classical lens, which highlights what is most alluring and appealing, and passes over what is nonessential to the goal of portraying Beauty.
In the media
Mandy's career has been documented in written and video pieces throughout the years.
